More Than A Feeling: Success Can Be Measured, Planned And protected

Momentum hosted a Women’s event where key talks highlighted how every woman has a version of success she is working towards.

For some, it’s buying a first home. For others, it’s paying off debt, saving for their children’s education, starting a business, preparing for retirement, or simply making it to the end of the month with peace of mind.

While these milestones may look different, they all have one thing in common: they begin with a goal that can be defined, planned for and achieved.

The story is grounded in the realities facing South African women today. Many women are balancing careers, raising families, supporting loved ones and managing households, often while putting their own financial goals on hold. Research commissioned by

Momentum reveals that financial independence remains one of the strongest measures of success for women, yet many still face significant barriers to achieving long-term financial security.

This Women’s Month, the brand is encouraging South African women to move beyond simply dreaming about success and start defining it with a number.

Whether it’s the amount saved for a first home, the capital needed to launch a business, an investment portfolio, retirement savings, a personal best on the track, or the number of jobs created, Momentum’s She Owns Her Success campaign believes success becomes more achievable when it is measurable.

For many women, success begins with practical milestones rather than luxury. Nearly half associate success with having savings or investments (46%), being debt-free (45%) and earning a stable income (44%), before progressing towards wealth creation, asset ownership and long-term financial security.

The campaign, which is in its 8th season introduces the theme “Success Has a Number”, which encourages women to define, grow, protect and ultimately achieve the financial goals that matter most to them. Rather than prescribing what success should look like, Momentum is empowering women to identify their own number and build practical plans to reach it.

Qhawekazi Mdikane, Head of Brand, Momentum, says the campaign is about helping women transform ambition into action.

“Success means something different to every woman, but one thing remains true: when you can define it, you can start building towards it. Whether it’s saving for your first home, growing a business, preparing for retirement or becoming financially independent, every goal has a number behind it. Through She Owns Her Success, we want women to move from simply hoping their future will happen to actively planning, protecting and owning it. Success becomes more achievable when it becomes measurable.”

Through research, practical resources, expert advice, conversations and experiences, the initiative helps women strengthen their financial knowledge, make informed financial decisions and confidently turn their personal and professional ambitions into action.
